Firstly, using lube is a great way to make sure that both partners stay comfortable and feel sexy during the act. In fact, I ALWAYS recommend that couples use lube. When things are nice and wet, you have better sex! Also, adding lube can:
- Decrease painful friction
- Enhance sexual arousal by stimulating the flow of blood to the vulva
- Lubricate the clitoris
However, it’s important to be careful when you are choosing what kind of lube to use. First of all, not all lubes can be used with sex toys.
- Water-based lube: Water based lube can be used on any toy! It doesn’t degrade toys and is totally body safe.
- Silicone-based lube: Silicon based lube can be used on toys made of hard substances (like glass, marble, and hard plastic). DO NOT use silicon based lube on silicone or jelly based toys.
- Oil-based lubes: Do not use oil based lube on toys; period.
Second of all, many commercially available brands of lube contain things like parabens, petrochemicals, DEA, Glycerin, methylisothiazolinone and fragrance. Some of these ingredients can result in nasty reactions – that will definitely kill your mood! Sticking with an all-natural lube is your best bet.
SO Here are some of my all time favorite all natural lube!
Oil-Based Lube:
Yup, the same stuff you cook with! Extra-virgin coconut oil has a low melting point: just rub it between your hands and it will melt into a luxuriously smooth oil. As an added bonus, coconut oil contains natural antifungal properties. So, coconut oil could help reduce the risk of infections. Please do NOT use coconut oil – or any other oil – with latex condoms. The oil may weaken the latex and increases the risk of condom breakage.
Water-Based Lube:
Sliquid lube is a paraben-free, glycerin-free, gentle, water-based lubricant. Unlike most other personal lubricants out there, it has no sugar derivatives and is thickened with plant cellulose. Sliquid is safe for all sexual activity. Also, Sliquid is condom friendly, toy friendly and will never cause yeast infections or UTIs. Sliquid H20 is 100% vegan, is unflavored, unscented and non-staining. Also, Sliquid is pretty easy to cleanup.
Water-Based Lube:
The only active ingredients in this lubricant include: olus oil, olive fruit oil, argania spinosa kernel oil, and pichia/resveratrol ferment extract. It isn’t too thick or sticky, and glides on smoothly. This lube prides itself as being especially suitable for menopausal women.
